Farewell to prof. Bogatek-Leszczyńska
It is with deep regret that we announce that on May 9, 2020 she died
Professor dr hab. Renata Bogatek-Leszczyńska
an outstanding specialist in the field of seed biology
and allelopathic interactions.
Her scientific path began at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Warsaw, where under the supervision of prof. Stanisław Lewak learned the secrets of regulating seed dormancy and germination. She conducted many years of research into the signaling role of hydrogen cyanide as a signaling molecule in cooperation with partners from France at the Peter and Marie Curie University in Paris. Since 2000, Prof. Renata Bogatek-Leszczyńska was an employee of the Faculty of Agriculture and Biology of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. In the years 2003-2005 she was the Head of the Department of Plant Physiology.
She was a highly valued lecturer, friend to colleagues, patient teacher and liked by the students. Always full of cheerfulness and optimism, she planned research that went far beyond the usual patterns.
She was characterized by great creativity and the ability to establish close relationships in the scientific community. Thanks to her special character and commitment to scientific work, she created a research team at the Department of Plant Physiology, which successfully carries out the work initiated by her.
