About the Institute
Nowadays Institute of Biology consists of six departments. The scope of their research concerns the issues of the biology of animal cells and tissues: Department of Physics and Biophysics, Department of Nanobiotechnology; various aspects of plant and microorganism biology: Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology, Department of Botany, Department of Plant Physiology, Department of Plant Genetics, Breeding and Biotechnology.
The Institute employs 120 people, including 92 research, teaching and research positions. Among them there are 10 titular professors, 16 university professors, 8 habilitated doctors, 52 doctors and 6 masters, representing various scientific disciplines, primarily biological sciences and agriculture and horticulture, but also forestry sciences and economics and finances.
