Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology
The Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology was established within the structure of the Institute of Biology on 01.10.2019 as a result of the merger of the Department of Biochemistry and the Independent Department of Microorganism Biology, in addition, the Department was supplemented by 2 employees of the Department of Experimental and Bioinformatics.
The Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology is located on the ground floor and on the 3rd floor of building 37 at Nowoursynowska 159 and has 7 large exercise rooms and 18 modern laboratories for scientific research.
Research topics carried out at the Department concern:
- the impact of abiotic and biotic stresses on the metabolism of higher plants and microorganisms,
- metagenomic analysis of the microbial community in the rhizosphere,
- the impact of geographical isolation in the evolution of papillary bacteria in the world,
- characterization of new families of ADP-ribosyltransferases and proteins related to ADP-ribosylation as well as protein kinases and pseudokinases using bioinformatics tools
